Gertrude "Trudel" Pappe and Willy Ulrich - April 1914 This photo is from the collection of Arno Pappe (1893-1948). It was printed in postcard format and mailed by Amalie Gertrude "Trudel" Pappe to her brother Arno in the US. In the postcard Trudel mentions her upcoming wedding and says how great it would be if Arno could be there. The card is postmarked from Leipzig, Germany. The young man in the photo is Trude's fiancé, Willy Ulrich. The couple are wearing traditional Bavarian costumes, which were not typical of the area where they lived. Perhaps they were dressed up for some sort of party or festival.
