Arthur Pappe 1889 - 1971

Arthur Pappe, 81, died Tuesday at Community hospital after an illness of about one week.

Funeral was held this Thursday afternoon in Langley chapel, with Rev. Leslie Zimmerman officiating. Burial was in Kingfisher cemetery.

Pappe, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Pappe, was born in Kingfisher September 27, 1889, and is reported to be the second baby boy born in Kingfisher after the opening of Oklahoma for settlement.

Pappe married Miss Violet Major in Kingfisher on July 28, 1909, and they lived on the homestead southeast of Kingfisher until moving into town in 1920.

He was a member of the First Christian church and the Ancient Order of United Workmen (AOUW).

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, two brothers and one sister. Survivors include his wife of the home; one son, Max Pappe of Cathedral City, Calif.; one daughter, Mrs. Dale (Louise) Altizer of Kingfisher; one brother, Court Pappe Sr. of Kingfisher; one sister, Mrs. Louise Jersak of Springfield, MO; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
