Mathias Henry “Matt” Stork 1914-1976

Matt H. Stork, 62, of 1821 Quint Avenue, Carroll, died early Saturday, July 31, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital after a lingering illness. He was a retired fanner.

Mass of the resurrection will be celebrated by the Rt. Rev. Msgr. Henry B. Karhoff at 1 p.m. Tuesday at St. Lawrence Church. Interment will be in St. Bernard's Cemetery at Breda.

Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll, where the faculty and student body of St. Lawrence School will recite the rosary at 3 p.m. Monday. The parish rosary at 8 p.m. Monday will be followed by a scriptural prayer service at 8:45.

Mr. Stork, son of Henry and Helen Julich Stork, was born at Breda July 27, 1914, and most of his life was spent in the Breda area. He farmed one-half mile west of Breda and continued to farm after moving to Carroll in 1967, until retiring because of his health two years ago. He married Mary Ann Grabner at St. Bernard's Church in Breda Aug. 25, 1942, with the late Rev. E. L. Schleyer officiating at the ceremony. He was s member of St. Lawrence Church.

He is survived by his wife, 17 children, 18 grandchildren and 11 brothers and sisters.

The children are Alan, Mrs. Fred (Ruth) Lappe, Gordon, Matt Jr., Michele, Kenneth, Sandra and Henry, all of Carroll; T.Sgt. Robert L., with the Air Force in Guam; Donald, Thomas and William of Breda; Phyllis of Des Moines, Mrs. Gene (Susan) Love of Ames, Mrs. Keith (Pat) Miller of Dow City. Margaret of Ames and Mary of Ankeny.

Brothers and sisters include Joe of Lincoln, Neb.; John of San Antonio, Tex.; Henry Jr. of Sacramento, Calif.; Richard, Julie and Mrs. Don (Helen) Wessling of Breda, Fred of Odebolt, Mrs. Verle (Josie) .Reinken of Bancroft, Sr. Mary Myron of Carroll, Paula of St. Louis, Mo., and Mrs. Donald (Margie) Ballard of Long Island, N.Y.

A brother, Victor preceded Mr. Stork in death.
