BREDA—Lynette C. Steinkamp, 87, of Breda, died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2008, at Twilight Acres Nursing Home in Wall Lake.

Mass of the Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 5, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breda with the Rev. Joe Dillinger presiding. Lector will be Mrs. Steinkamp's nephew, Leonard Snyder. Gift bearers will be granddaughters: Morgan Steinkamp, Brea Steinkamp and Lindsay Umstead. Servers will be Mariah Masching, Matt Wessling and Dillon Walsh. Eucharistic ministers will be Mary Lou Schultes, Katy Hildman and Laurie Steinkamp.

Casket bearers will be grandsons: Wes Bierl, Doug Steinkamp, Jon Steinkamp, Mitchell Dettbarn, Chase Steinkamp, Eric Steinkamp and Ryan Steinkamp. Honorary casket bearers will be granddaughters.

Burial will be in St. Bernard Cemetery at Breda.

Visitation starts at 2:30 and the St. Bernard Ladies Guild will lead a rosary at 3 Thursday afternoon at Sharp Funeral Home in Breda. St. Bernard Parish will hold a Christian wake service at 7 Thursday night at the funeral home.

A daughter of Mike and Catherine (Zitzlsperger) Schultes, she was born Aug. 25, 1921, at Dedham, spent her younger years in Dedham and Willey, attended St. Mary School in Willey and St. Angela Academy in Carroll then did domestic work in the area.

She and Leonard Steinkamp were married July 31, 1945, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Willey.

They farmed north of Breda until Mr. Steinkamp's death in 1984, then Mrs. Steinkamp moved into Breda.

She was a member of St. Bernard Parish and Ladies Guild and enjoyed gambling, going to dog races, cooking and going for drives in her car.

Survivors include seven children and their spouses: James and Faith Steinkamp of Carroll, Richard and Jan Steinkamp of Breda, Alyce and Leon Bierl of Arcadia, Thomas and Laurie Steinkamp of Carroll, LeRoy "Doc" Steinkamp and fiancé Sherry Burton of Breda, Mike and Lori Steinkamp of Breda, Mary and Larry Dettbarn of Breda, Dale and Phyllis Steinkamp of Breda and Dean and Dana Steinkamp of Creston; 22 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; five sisters: Alvera Irlbeck of Carroll, Janet Snyder of Breda, Dorothy Bruening of Carroll, Loretta Hannasch of San Antonio, Texas, and Marilyn Pletchette of Carroll; and two sisters-in-law: Mary Lou Schultes of Dedham and Maxine Schultes of Carroll.

Mrs. Steinkamp was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leonard; an infant son, Jerome Steinkamp; two grandchildren: Adam and Tessa Steinkamp; three sisters: Lavine Tigges, Louise Schultes and Mary Jo Schultes; and two brothers: Arthur Schultes and Leon Schultes.
