Leonard Frank Schettler 1906-1987

Mass of the Christian Burial was held Friday, Oct. 30, at 10 a.m. at St. Lawrence Church in Carroll for Leonard Frank Schettler, 81, of Carroll, who died Wednesday, Oct. 28, 1987, in Carroll.

Burial was made at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery in Mount Carmel.

Services were officiated by the Rev. Phil Niles.

Born April 20, 1906, in Breda, he was the son of Ben and Emma (Hoebing) Schettler, He attended St. Bernard schools in Breda and St. Mary's College in St. Mary's, KS.

On Sept. 18, 1934, he was married to Florentine Stork by the Rev. Roth at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Mount Carmel.

Mr. Schettler operated a farm 2 ½ miles north of Carroll until his retired in 1968.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Breda Catholic Order of Foresters, and St. Lawrence Parish in Carroll.

He is survived by his wife Florentine, of Carroll, sons and daughters and their spouses, Mrs. Merle (Mary Lou) Kraus of Anita, Donald and his wife Edna of Council Bluffs, Marvin and his wife Francis of Storm Lake, John and his wife Mary of Carroll, Norman and his wife Diane of Carroll, Leo and his wife Kathy of Denver, CO, and Mrs. Mike (Elaine) Casey of Omaha, NE; brothers and sisters: Eugene of Carroll, Ray of Breda, Mrs. Herman (Colette) Grote of Breda, Mrs. Ray (Marcella) Gross of Carroll, Sister Karen (Laurine) FSPA of LaCrosse, WI; Sister Lucille, FSPA of Spokane, WA; and Mrs. Fred (Rita) Lorenz of Omaha, NE; 29 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Cecilia, Leona and Georgia; and three brothers, Vincent, Cyril and Joseph.
