Cletus Joseph Boes 1916-1990

Mass of the Christian burial for Cletus J. Boes will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 12, at Holy Spirit Church in Carroll. Mr. Boes, 73, of Carroll, died Tuesday, May 8, 1990, at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Ill.

Born July 22, 1916, in Breda, Mr. Boes was a son of John and Anna (Geier) Boes. He attended St. Bernard School in Breda.

During World War II, he served in the Army in Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe.

On April 29, 1947, he was married to Eleanor Wiederin at St. Columbille Church in Churdan by Father Leo Schumacher.

Mr. Boes was a retired woodcraftsman and clock repairman and also worked part time with the Carroll Conservation Commission.

He was a member of Holy Spirit Church and the Holy Spirit Men's Club, the Secular Franciscan Order, and the American Legion post in Breda.

Mr. Boes is survived by his wife, Eleanor Boes, of Carroll; his children Nancy and her husband, Allen Pudenz, of Carroll, Rick Boes and his wife, Marsha, of Carroll, Ron Boes and his wife, Lydia, of Clarendon Hills, Ill., Terry Boes and his wife, Sue, of Carroll, Steve Boes and his wife, Marilyn, of Elk Grove Village, Ill., Laurie and her husband, Tim Whicher, of West Point, Neb., and Tony Boes of Cedar Falls; and 14 grandchildren.

Other survivors include his father-in-law, Alois Wiederin of Carroll; two brothers, Romain Boes and his wife, Cecilia, of Carroll and William Boes and his wife, Laura, of Breda; one sister, Eleanora (Mrs. Henry) Steinkamp of Carroll; and two sister-in-law, Mrs. Julius Boes of Breda and Nina (Mrs. Leonard) Boes of Breda.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Julius, Leonard and Father Norbert Boes.
