Mrs. Anna C. Wittry, 84, of Breda, died Saturday, May 12, 1984, at St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll.

Mass of the Christian Burial was celebrated at 1:30 p.m. Monday, May 14, at St. Bernard church in Breda with the Rev. Richard Birdsall as celebrant. Dave Nieland was lector and Jane Walter and Rosie Wiederin were gift-bearers. Burial was in Our Lady of Mount Carmel cemetery in Mount Carmel. Casket bearers were grandsons: Leo and Bob Buelt, Gerald Kraus, Mike, Mark and Roch Hannasch.

Rosaries were recited at 3, 5, and 8 p.m. Sunday and a scriptural prayer service was conducted at the Twit Funeral Home in Carroll at 8:45 p.m. Sunday.

Mrs. Wittry is survived by three daughters: Mrs. Leo (Leone) Buelt, Breda; Sister Pauline Wittry, LaCrosse, WI; and Mrs. Jerry (Joan) Hannasch, Goodhue, MN; two brothers: Louis Nieland, Breda, and Herman Nieland, Wall Lake; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Henry, Frank, Will, Ben and Joe; sisters; Mary Steinkamp, Margaret Mueggenborg, Sister Florina, Sister Sigmunda, Rose Wittrock and Bertha Braun; and grandchildren: LeRoy Kraus, Patrick Hannasch and Teresa Hannasch, and her husband Jacob, on August 19, 1966.

Mrs. Wittry was born May 30, 1899, in Breda, a daughter of Henry and Anna Koester Nieland. She was married to Jacob Wittry on September 6, 1921, at St. Bernard Church in Breda by the Rev. Joe Schulte. She received her education in Breda. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
