Msgr. Dan Mueggenborg

Daniel Henry Mueggenborg is the son of Paul Bernard Mueggenborg and Dolores Lucille Kerntke, grandson of Henry Mueggenborg and Dora Boes and great-grandson of Gerhard Boes and Anna Nieland. He was born in Okarche, Oklahoma. The family moved to Stillwater in 1969. Daniel graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1984 with BS in Geology and related studies in Computer Science. He joined the Diocese of Tulsa the same year and attended St. Meinrad Seminary for Pre-Theology before being sent to the North American College in Rome for Theology studies. He received an S.T.B. in 1988 and an S.T.L. in Biblical Theology in 1990 both from the Gregorian University. He was ordained to the priesthood on July 14, 1989 at Holy Family Cathedral in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

He has served in a variety of pastoral assignments during his ministry including the following: St. John Church in Bartlesville, Oklahoma; Chaplain, Bishop Kelly High School in Tulsa; Pastor, Church of the Madalene in Tulsa; Chaplain, St. Philip Neri Newman Center at the University of Tulsa; and Vicar of Religious Formation for the Diocese of Tulsa, Pastor of St. Clement Church in Bixby, Oklahoma, Director of Clergy Education for the Diocese of Tulsa, Chairman of the Presbyteral Council, Director of the First Diocesan Synod, and Director of the Program for Pastoral Renewal. He also served as an adjunct professor of Catholic Studies for St. Gregory University in Shawnee, Oklahoma and periodically taught classes at their Tulsa campus. He also served on the St. John Medical Center Ethics Board.

On May 1, 2004, Bishop Slattery of Tulsa named Daniel Henry Mueggenborg a Monsignor. The parish celebrated this event on July 11, 2004.

From 2005 to 2012, Msgr Mueggenborg served as Vice Rector of Administration for the Pontifical North America College in Rome, Italy. The North American College is the largest seminary for Americans in the world. As Vice Rector for Administration he was responsible for the College’s two campuses, management of the College’s fiscal operation and supervision of the personnel. He was also responsible for overseeing the formation of twenty seminarians in addition to his administrative responsibilities.

In 2012 Msgr. Mueggenborg was named the pastor of Christ the King Catholic Parish in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
