Othmar W. Koester was born on 17 June 1914 at Dedham, Carroll County, Iowa.

He was ordained on 22 May 1941 at Cathedral of the Epiphany, Souix City, Woodbury, Iowa. He was designated a domestic prelate of the Catholic Church. He was also a diocesan consultor and vicar of religious in 1972.

He died on 14 September 1995 at Carroll, Carroll County, Iowa, at age 81. He was buried on 18 September 1995 at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Dedham, Carroll County, Iowa.

Norbert J. Koester (1917 - 1994)

Norbert J Koester was born on 15 May 1917 at Dedham, Carroll County, Iowa. He married Thelma Pomeroy 30 August 1943 at Camp Chaffee, Arkansas. He was also known as Tip. He was in the Civilian Conservation Corps based in Red Oak and helped build Ledges State Park near Boone circa 1935 at Boone, Iowa.

He began his service in the US Army in 1942, serving in WWII.


He died on 18 July 1994 at Carroll, Carroll County, Iowa, at age 77. He was buried on 21 July 1994 at St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery, Breda, Carroll County, Iowa.

He died on 4 December 1991 at Denison, Crawford, Iowa, at age 72. He was buried on 7 December 1991 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Denison, Crawford, Iowa.

Cyril was born 6 April 1921 at Carroll County, Iowa.

He died 29 January 1944 at Illinois. Cyril was in the Army, stationed at Chanute Field, Illinois. He died of and infection and allergy to medicine. Leo Buelt, husband of Leone Wittry, accompanied the body back to Dedham for military honors at burial. He was buried at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Dedham, Carroll County, Iowa.

Florence Koester was born on 25 April 1923 at Carroll County, Iowa.

She was also known as Sister Mary Remigia FSPA. She was also known as Sister Florence Koester, FSPA using her given name again after the changes that resulted from the Second Vatican Council. She was a homemaker and food service manager in convent homes and hospitals in Idaho, Iowa, Washington and Wisconsin. She later took a CPE course and ministered in pastoral care at St. Anthony's Hospital and Nursing Home, Carroll, Iowa and Villa St. Joseph, LaCrosse, Wisconsin.

She was accepted into the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration on 28 August 1943 at LaCrosse, Wisconsin. She made her final profession of vows as a sister on 12 August 1946 at LaCrosse, Wisconsin. She was retired in 1998 at LaCrosse, Wisconsin.

She died on 19 October 2002 at LaCrosse, LaCrosse County, Wisconsin, at age 79. She was buried on 22 October 2002 at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, LaCrosse, LaCrosse County, Wisconsin.
